Congratulations to the following members on their successes and those who were recently in the media.

Sonali Chakraborti is the recipient of CAWEE's 2009 Schulich Scholarship. On an annual basis, CAWEE awards a scholarship to a female student at York University’s MBA program at the Schulich School of Business. The award is presented to a woman who shows a strong interest in advancing the status of women in business. Sonali is involved with mentoring women in non-traditional fields like engineering, cross-cultural initiatives, and sending women to India to learn about the culture while studying math. She has developed groups in Toronto, particularly supporting immigrant women, women voting for the first time, youth groups, networking and support groups at Schulich.

Dr. Melvine Baird was recently featured in the Metro commuter paper, highlighting her own experience with back pain and the road she took to becoming a chiropractor. Read her story.

CAWEE CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

Our International Women’s Day event was a tremendous success with over 60 people in attendance! CAWEE knows how to celebrate in style with gourmet food provided by Brunello Imports, an endless supply of Prosecco wine, all taking place in the fabulous Nygärd Fashion Park! A special thank you to the members who brought friends and introduced them to CAWEE. Everyone should be very proud to know that CAWEE raised $500 for the TIAW Microenterprise Village Bank Program that helps women in developing countries obtain loans to start their own businesses. The food was delicious, the wine was extravagant - who knew that food, wine and shopping could go so well together!!
